Documents | WATKINS - The Will of William White Watkins In the name of the benevolent father of all, I, Wm W. Watkins do make and publish this my last will and testament which is as follows, to wit: Item 1st: I want all my just debts and funeral expenses paid. Item 2nd: I wish my wife provided for as follows. I wish her to have the one third of the nett [sic] proceeds of the farm I now own until the farm is sold. I think it best not to sell the farm until after the death of my wife unless by the mutual consent of all parties interested. My wife to enjoy and have the above benefits during her natural lifetime. After her death then if the farm has not been sold by mutual consent then I wish the farm sold and the money divided equally among my heirs. I wish and appoint my executor to have full control of the farm to rent and look after the general interest of the farm, collect all rents, pay taxes, keep up repairs and after paying my wife her share of the rent and all expenses, then what is left is to be divided equally among my heirs yearly. Item 3rd: In regard to my personal property, I want my effects sold at public auction with the exception of my buggy and harness and one horse worth not less than forty dollars which I hereby give to my wife, Susan. Item 4th: I have loaned money to some of my children and hold their notes for the sums so loaned. Now if any of said notes remain unpaid at the Final Settlement of my estate, then in the divide said notes shall count as money to said heirs owing the same. Item 5th: I hereby request and appoint that my son, James H. Watkins as Executor of this my last will and testament and that he shall not be required to give Bond with Sureties. Dated this 12th day of February, 1897 W. W. Watkins Signed and acknowledged before us and in our presence: George Bell Stokes Cowgill | |
