- In 1843, Joist Friedrich Klausing Hannebaum, a 55-year-old farmer, emigrated with his family from the Kingdom of Hanover, Prussia, to the entry port of Baltimore, Maryland. They arrived on board the ship Marianne on September 25, 1843. With J. Friedrich Hannebaum was his wife, Catharina Bredenwischer Hannebaum, age 44. Accompanying them were their five surviving children: Elisabeth Hannebaum, age 19; Heinrich Hannebaum, age 15; Franz Hannebaum, age 10; Caterina Hannebaum, age in question; and Wilhelm Hannebaum, age in question. Their Baltimore arrival record states simply that their last permanent residence was Wetter. A search of Germany comes up with three cities named Wetter. Wetter (now part of Melle), Lower Saxony, Germany, has been confirmed as the ancestral home of this Hannebaum family.
