- Henry Kelley was born October 15, 1826, on a farm near Mt. Pisgah, Logan County, and has always resided in the county. His education was received in the common schools of Logan county, and he taught school for 12 years.
For 19 years her lived in Liberty Township, and for most of the past 24 years, he had been a resident of Bellefontaine. He served as Assessor of Liberty Township 12 years; Infirmary Director 12 years; Commissioner 6 years, and Justice of the Peace of Lake Township for 9 years, and all of the offices he filled with fidelity and credit.
Henry Kelly was an honorable and kindly man, and during his long life of 73 years spent in Logan County he was always highly respected and had hosts of friends. His tedious and painful illness was borne withou complaint, and the friends ever met a kindly welcome when they called to see him and ever found him cheerful and resigned -- (Bellefountaine Daily Examiner, May 25.)

- Henry Kelly, one of the best known men in Logan County, died Wednesday evening at 7 after a long and patiently borne illness from a complication of diseases.
Henry Kelly was born October 15, 1826, on a farm near Mt. Pisgah, Logan County, and has always resided in this county. His education was received in the common schools of Logan County, and he taught school for twelve years.
In 1851 the deceased was married to Catherine Eddy, of Logan County, and for some time resided on a farm near Rushsylvania. For nineteen years he lived in Liberty Township and for the past twenty-four years, he had been a resident of Bellefontaine. He served as Assessor of Liberty Township for twelve years; Infirmary Director for twelve years; Commissioner, 6 years; and Justice of the Peace for Lake Township for nine years, and all of these offices he filled with fidelity and credit.
This death is the first to occur in Henry Kelly's family and death has never entered the families of any of his children.
The widow, with the following children, are left to mourn the death of a husband and father who was ever fond and true to them: Mrs. Sarah Watkins of Huntsville, Mrs. Martha Watkins of Rushsylvania, and Mrs. Flora Taylor of Aberdeen, Washington.
All of his children except Mrs. Flora Taylor, and all of his twelve grandchildren, except Frank Taylor, both of Aberdeen, Washington, were here for the funeral.

The funeral services took place at the home, Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. S.S. Adams, after which the remains were brought to West Liberty and buried in Fairview Cemetery.
