- Reuben Hudson Snedeker, son of Peter and Sarah Archibald Snedeker, was born near Caldwell, Noble County, August 31, 1859 and departed this life Mary 5, 1922, aged 62 years, 8 months, and 5 days.
At an early age he moved with his parents to Delaware county, and was nurtured to manhood and strength by the sturdy life of the farm. On the 10th day of May, 1890, he was united in marriage to Miss Samantha Barnes. They resided in Delaware county until 1894 when they purchased the farm on the North Lewisburg pike in Union County, Ohio, where they resided until recently, selling it and purchasing the Harvey farm nearby, where he died. To this union two daughters were born, Mrs. Grace Harvey and Mrs. Opal Elliott, and three grandchildren, Reuben, Ray, and Mary Ann Harvey.
Mr. Snedeker was a man of pleasing demeanor, wearing a smile at all times strickly honest and of sterling character. Kind and courteous to all, an ideal neighbor, and a most kind-hearted husband and father. In business he was cautious, careful and successful, but far from exacting from others more than his share. He took a deep interest in all public affairs and filled offices of trust with marked faithfulness.
A member and contributor of the Mt. Zion United Brethren Church and to the M.E. Church in Marysville. Christian principles and doctrines were thickly woven into his great suffering with patience and expressed many times his readiness and willingness to go to his "new home", and that all was well with him.
