- Ronald Newsome, 65, a resident of Scottsville, Virginia passed peacefully on November 14, 2012 at home after a lengthy illness. His devoted wife, Virginia (Ginger) Petrila Newsome was at his bedside when he died.
Ron was born in Roxborough, Pennsylvania on May 17, 1947 to Francis and Margaret Newsome. Ron worked 20 years for Sperry in Bluebell, Pennsylvania and then as a CAD designer "IT"man for Wilson Miller in Naples Florida.
Ron was a respected and popular musician in Scottsville and Charlottesville. He was civic minded, an integral leader organizing James Fest. He also headed up the Cardinal Cafe in the Victory Hall Theatre featuring local, innovative, talented musician from all of Virginia and the East Coast.
Ron is survived by his wife, Ginger, two stepsons, Joseph and James Petrila and their wives, Alexandra Gardner and Susan Longwell; two grandchildren Courtney and Joseph Petrila, Jr. as well as Two sisters, Nancy Ciccone and her husband Allen, and sons, Kevin and Brian, and Kelly Savini and her sons Tucker and Chase. Ron also leaves his two brothers, Jay Newsome and son Brandon, Scott Newsome and sons Trevor and Phillip. He also leaves his niece Heather and nephew Jordan Newsome, children of his predeceased brother Robert Newsome.
