- A graveside service for Helen Alene Newhouse of Corvallis will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park, McMinnville. The Rev. Jim Peterson of Lafayette Community Church will officiate.
The chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville, will be open for visitation from noon to 1:15 p.m. Friday.
Mrs. Newhouse died Jan. 3, 2000, in Heart of the Valley Care Center, Corvallis. She was 81.
She was born March 12, 1918, in Carlton, the daughter of Lloyd and Rosa York Newhouse. She was raised and educated in Carlton and graduated from Carlton High School.
She and John Newhouse were married Jan. 20, 1940, in Stevenson, Wash.
After marrying, she moved to Tillamook, where she lived until 1992. She then lived in Philomath for a year before moving to Corvallis. She enjoyed needlework, sewing, gardening, cooking and making porcelain dolls. She also enjoyed baking cakes for family and friends.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Hoyt of Philomath; a son, Lloyd Newhouse of Tigard; two brothers, Austin York of McMinnville and Bob York of Carlton; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985 and by a brother, Charles York.
