- At the age of 22, April 10, 1850, he was married, to Mary Wickersham, who was born 1826, in Columbiana Co., O., and is a daughter of Joseph and Margaret Wickersham. For five years after their marriage he lived on the farm now owned by Esquire Slonecker, when he purchased 26 acres and was engaged in farming. For several years he was engaged in stork trading, and while the war was in progress he purchased a large number of horses for the government, and all along his life, from the first, has been successful; has about 300 acres of land, upon which is located the much visited "Jerusalem Falls," which has become quite noted as a. place of resort to visit the fills and its romantic surroundings.
