412 "Samuel and Mary obtained 60 acres of land from his family, part of the 140 acres his father had purchased from the government, and they move into the log house, where their eight children were born. Later their first daughter and her husband lived in this same house. Samuel and Mary built their new frame barn in the summer of 1894.

Samuel owned a portable saw mill, sawing lumber for many barns and houses in his earlier years, moving the mille to many places in the vicinity of Richland Township. As his sons grew older they helped him in this business, and the boys grew up around machinery. Samuel was also among the first in the area to own a steam engine, a threshing machine and a corn husker, doing much of the hired work in the community and over a wide area. When the sons were older, they took over part of the business, and were known for their promptness as well as their skill.

Samuel also set up a saw mill on the farm and did custom sawing during the year. He also had a cane press and an apple cider press. He boiled and processed cane molasses and pressed hard cider in due season. In later years, when his sons were old enough to do farm work, Samuel opened a farm implement store, selling the Osborne line of farm machinery. This was during the time that such machinery was just coming into wide use, and he sold a great deal of farm equipment and had a thriving business in the community. In the fall of 1902, Samuel turned the farm over to his daughter, Lydia, and her husband, Francis Steiner. Samuel and Mary moved to Bluffton so he could be closer to the business. When Francis died the next year, Samuel and Mary moved back to the farm and lived their until Samuel died on July 5, 1910; then Mary sold the farm."

424 "Sarah was the first of two children born of Thomas Sr and Sarah (Edge) Bowater of England and later Chester Co PA. As a British Quaker looking for religious freedom, her father had immigrated to America aboard the ship "Bristol Comfort", arriving on 28 Jul 1683. Her mother most likely arrived about the same time, also from England, the daughter of John and Mary (Smedley) Edge.

Sarah's father Thomas Bowater and her future father-in-law, John Beals Sr, became friends and business associates. They were involved in mutual land purchases in Chester Co PA, as early as 1685, three years before Sarah's birth. Sarah's marriage to John Beals Jr was most likely a collaboration between the longtime friends.

Sarah married:
1) John Beals Jr, on 14 Aug 1711 at New Garden Friends MH, Chester Co PA; he died 12 Dec 1745. They had eight children, three sons and six daughters.
2) Alexander Underwood, Feb 1748 at Warrington Friends MH, York Co PA; no children.

After the death of husband John, Sarah transferred back to Warrington Friends MH. She was accompanied by her son Bowater Beals, who had married Sarah Cook, a daughter of Thomas Sr and Mary (Underwood) Cook. Sarah Beals met her future husband through her daughter-in-law Sarah (Cook) Beals. He was Sarah's maternal grandfather.

"Sarah (Beals), wd with ch, rpd m 2mo-1748 to Alexander UNDERWOOD; she was gct Warrington MM, Pa., 25-4-1748 (Note: The mtg appoint to Henry Ballinger & Daniel Matthews to settle the affairs betweem her & her ch in accordance of the will of her dec h, which was satisfactorily done, as rpd 30-1-1748."

Sarah is again recorded on 12 Sep 1761, when she was succeeded as "overseer". She died a few years later, aged 77. Alexander died two years later, in 1767."

435 "Sporting the name Walter Craig when out of the limelight and the stage name Anthony Dexter when in it, he rounded out his years teaching high school speech and drama classes at Eagle Rock High School (circa 1968-78) in the Los Angeles area. His best-known role as an actor, however, occurred when he landed the part of Rudolph Valentino in the actor's biopic Valentino (1951). He was reputed to have won the role from a competitive field of 75,000 aspiring Valentinos. The film's producer, 'Edward Small', claimed to have made 400 screen tests for the part until discovering Dexter--the perfect fit. So much alike was Dexter in appearance to Valentino that Valentino fan clubs, upon learning of Dexter, applauded the choice of him to play their star. Even the press lauded Dexter as "incredible. The same eyes, ears, mouth--the same grace in dancing" (according to a 1950 Los Angeles Times article quoting George Melford, who directed Valentino in The Sheik (1921). Although "Valentino" was not the success its producers had hoped for, Dexter managed to garner future parts in movies similar to the roles the real Valentino had played: John Smith in Captain John Smith and Pocahontas (1953); Captain Kidd in Captain Kidd and the Slave Girl (1954); a pirate leader in The Black Pirates (1954); Christopher Columbus in The Story of Mankind (1957). After these roles, his career gradually diminished until ultimately he was cast in a bit part in Julie Andrews' vehicle Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967).

Dexter grew up on a farm in Talmadge, Nebraska, where he played such good football in high school that he earned a scholarship to St. Olaf's College in Minnesota. There he began his pursuit of stage and screen, singing first in the college's choir before going on to the University of Iowa to get his M.A. in speech and drama. Even during World War II, Dexter--then a sergeant with the Army Special Services--toured England and other parts of the European theater of war doing the show "Claudia." Having not limited himself to movies, he did at least one notable run at summer theatre in San Francisco in "The King and I" and added to his credits parts in the Broadway shows "The Three Sisters," "Ah, Wilderness" and "The Barretts of Wimpole Street." He died at the age of 88 in Greeley, Colorado.

They started dating on December 16, 2001. They later got married on April 12, 2004. He was an excellent son-in-law, who took care of his kids - his own or otherwise. We will all rejoice and reunite in heaven when we hear the trumpet sound and we get called home. We'll be able to see him again, and he will be waiting at the gates to welcome us with Uncle Chad, Memaw Virginia, Grandma Jo and everyone else who went before and after him.

Thank you for being my knight in shining armor, my best friend, lover and a wonderful loving and caring husband and father to our two sons. I didn't think that it was possible to love someone more after you'd gotten together and had been married to them than I do with you each and every day. I love you more and more as the years go by, and the longer we're together, you'll always be my Puddin and I'll always be your Harley Quinn.
